The other day I felt like watching TV. I wanted something more practical, directly on my cell phone or tablet, without paying anything. Then I thought: “Is it possible to watch live TV for free?”
I did some research and tested several apps (some of them were really bad, with lots of advertising and crashes), but I also found some that actually work and are really easy to use.
So, if you also want to save some money and still watch your favorite channels, come with me and I'll tell you about the 3 apps that I liked the most.
I'll tell you in advance: I've tested everything I'm going to recommend here, so it's real people's stuff for real people.
Globoplay (with free live signal in several regions)
First of all, I always thought that Globoplay was only for subscribers, but I discovered that it is possible to watch TV Globo live for free in several cities.
And not only that: depending on the day's schedule, some content is available even without a login.
You download the app, quickly register (or log in with your Google account), and that's it. If the live signal is available in your city, just click on “Agora na Globo” and watch what's on TV.
What I liked:
- Excellent image quality;
- You can watch soap operas, news, football, everything live;
- Clean, easy to use interface;
- You don't need to pay anything to watch live programming (in authorized regions).
Point of attention: The live signal is not available in all cities, so you have to test it. And some content requires a subscription, but you can filter only the free ones.
Ideal for: who enjoys Globo's programming and wants to watch it in high quality, directly from their cell phone or TV with Chromecast.
Pluto TV: varied channels and no registration required
If there is one app that surprised me, it was Pluto TV. First because it is 100% free, no catch.
And secondly, unlike the others, it doesn't just have open channels: it has its own programming, with exclusive channels, 24 hours a day.
There are channels for movies, series, cartoons, sports, news, reality shows and even old soap operas. It's like channel surfing, like on traditional TV, but on your cell phone.
The coolest thing is that you don't even need to create an account, just open it and use it.
What I liked:
- Works super well, without crashing;
- It has exclusive channels that do not exist on regular TV;
- No need to register or enter a credit card;
- You can use it on your cell phone, smart TV or computer.
Point of attention: It doesn't have traditional channels like Globo or Record, but it makes up for it with a lot of cool and nostalgic content (like a channel just for Naruto, MTV, Monica's Gang…).
Ideal for: those who want a variety of programming, like to binge-watch and enjoy streaming TV with a retro feel.
VIX CINE & TV: free movies, soap operas and programs
This one is more focused on on-demand content, but it also has some live channels available, especially Latin soap operas, movies and old shows.
I thought it was perfect for that moment when we want to watch something light, without having to think too much.
The cool thing about VIX is that it has several dubbed and subtitled contents, and everything, absolutely everything, is free. No registration, no payment. And the app is very organized, you can find things easily.
What I liked:
- Content in Portuguese, with good image quality;
- Lightweight interface, runs well even on older cell phones;
- There are some live channels with continuous programming;
- Several cool movies and even some B (but fun) releases.
Point of attention: Don't expect super productions or super famous channels, but if you like exploring different content, it's a good one.
Ideal for: who enjoys films, soap operas and alternative entertainment channels.
Golden tip: use Chromecast or HDMI cable
One thing I do all the time is mirror my phone to my TV using Chromecast.
All of these apps work with it, so if you want to watch free TV on the big screen, just click the cast icon and you're good to go.
If you don't have Chromecast, you can also use an HDMI cable. It's perfect!
Watching live TV for free is totally possible
Nowadays, with the internet and a good cell phone, we can watch almost anything without spending anything.
Of course it doesn't replace that subscription TV full of premium channels, but for watching the basics — news, soap operas, movies, cartoons, football — it's more than enough.
If you were still unsure whether it was worth testing an app, I highly recommend starting with Pluto TV (for variety) and the Globoplay (for live programming).
Already the VIX It's perfect for relaxing after a busy day.
So, save this text, share it with anyone who is also in the mood to save money and get started with apps.
Let's watch TV without paying anything and with quality! Download the apps on your Android or iOS.
