I got into this game out of curiosity, I confess.
I saw some videos on TikTok and Reels where people were showing off their little dolls made with artificial intelligence, and I thought the result was so cool that I thought:
“Why not give it a try?” And look, it was much easier (and more addictive) than I imagined.
Well, I'm going to tell you exactly how I made mine and, of course, how you can do it too.

First of all, I started researching which websites and applications were most used to create these dolls.
I found some really cool ones like Reface, Lensa AI, and even tools within Canva itself, can you believe it?
However, the one I enjoyed using the most was Artbreeder, because in addition to being simple, it lets you edit the figure in various details.
Furthermore, Artbreeder works directly in the browser, meaning you don't need to download anything.
Just create an account (registration is very quick) and that's it, you can start playing.
Right off the bat, the site shows you a gallery full of different faces, characters and styles. It's really cool because it serves as inspiration.
How does breeding work?
So, when you enter the tool, it gives you the option to “cross” images, that is, mix two faces to create a new one.
It's like a fusion, really. But it doesn't stop there: you can change practically everything.
Eye color, face shape, hair, smile, age, and even clothing style, depending on the AI you're using.
In my case, I started by creating a doll based on myself. I took a photo of myself and adjusted the features using the AI options.
For example, I made my hair a little neater (because the AI made me with messy hair), made my smile a little bigger, and brightened my eyes, just to see how it would look.
And look, it looked a lot like me, just in an “anime” version.
After that, I got excited. I created a doll of my dog (yes, believe it or not), I invented a character for a game I was thinking about making.
In other words, the possibilities are endless.
Why is this trend booming?
Now, you may be wondering, “Okay, but why did this become so popular so quickly?” The answer is simple: it’s easy, fun, and customizable.
Plus, we love seeing versions of ourselves in different styles, right? It's like when that Pixar filter came out and everyone wanted to see themselves as a cartoon character.
Another thing is that AI dolls are super useful for a variety of things.
For example, if you create content, you can use the little character as an avatar in your profiles, videos, thumbnails, etc.
Many people are even using it as a personal brand. In other words, besides being a fun trend, it can also be a useful tool to highlight your online presence.
Furthermore, it is worth noting that you do not need to be a designer or anything like that. AI does practically everything for you.
Of course, if you want to give it a more artistic touch, you can adjust it manually, but it is not mandatory.
Tips to make your doll cooler
Now that you know how it works, I'll give you some tips that made a difference in my dolls:
- Use good references: If you're going to base your image on someone (or yourself), try to use a photo with good lighting and without too many filters. This helps the AI better identify the features.
- Play with different styles: Try making the same doll in different styles. For example, I made a more “realistic” version, an anime style version, and another “futuristic cartoon” version. It’s cool to see how small changes can give the doll a different personality.
- Save your creations: It seems obvious, but I once lost a doll that looked amazing because I forgot to save it before closing the site. So, always save before exiting, okay?
- Share with your friends: Show it to your friends, post it on social media, ask them to try it too. That's how I discovered several other cool tools – exchanging stickers with people.
